Meccano sets to be sold in our 18th November 2015 Toy Auction

We have been instructed to sell a selection of high quality Meccano sets in our 18th November 2015 auction.

Meccano was created in Liverpool by multi-talented Frank Hornby in 1901. He later created Hornby Trains and Dinky Cars. Meccano is a model construction system originally aimed at boys, consisting of re-usable metal plates, strips, wheels and gears, all designed to be interchangeable to suit the child’s imagination. Production of the sets for Meccano Ltd took place in the UK from 1908 to 1980. Meccano is now owned by Meccano S.N. of France and is manufactured in Calais. 

Lot 285 in our 18th November sale was issued in 2001 to mark the 100th Anniversary of Meccano. This limited edition Block Setting Crane Set, with parts in deep red and green is numbered 0152.

Lot 286 is a Meccano Outfit No. 9 set with parts in red, green and black including parts strung to a backing board. It is in an original Meccano box with a lift out tray and includes instructions for Outfit No. 9 and additionaly Nos. 6, 7 and 8.

Lot 287 is an Outfit No. 8 set with parts in red, green and black, including parts strung to backing board. It is in an original Meccano box with lift out tray and includes instructions for Outfit Nos, 6, 7 and 8.
