Warwick and Warwick’s Coins, Medals, Militaria and Banknotes 21st August Auction

We had some interesting and rare lots in the sale with competitive bidding throughout. We had live bidding through www.easyliveauction.com, plus commission and telephone bids.

Our star lots from the banknotes section include lot 269, which contained a world range with Cyprus 5/- 1914 (30 Oct), Straits Settlements 10c 1919 (14 Oct) (3), plus ranges of Europe, Lebanon, Singapore, etc. This was the highest-selling banknote lot of the auction, selling for a fantastic £6,250.

Lot 279 was another standout lot, featuring Bulgaria 1922 10 leva and 20 leva 000000 overprinted "SPECIMEN" and punch hole cancelled uncirculated, both with sheet margin at left. This impressive lot sold for £1,700.

Lot 280, a Canada range of uncirculated sheets of 40 included 1989 $2 Knight-Thiessen (2 sheets), $5 Knight-Dodge (2 sheets) and $10 Knight-Thiessen (3 sheets). This interesting lot sold for £2,300.

Our coin lots also performed incredibly well with some highlight lots including, lot 454. Lot 454 was an 1847 Gothic crown, undecimo edge, extremely fine. This lot sold for a fantastic £2,800.

  

Lot 674, is the highest-selling lot of the sale. With an Australia 2022 $500 'Kookaburra' 5oz 24ct gold proof FDC in presentation box and with a certificate by Perth Mint. Limited edition 37 of 50. This star of the show sold for £7,750.

 

 

   

Our Militaria section had some interesting items, especially our edged weapons with lot 86 1886 Royal Scots Field Officer's presentation broadsword by Henry Wilkinson No 27129, blade etched in 5 lines Captain W. Drury Shaw, "The Royal Scots", From the Officers of the 1st Midlothian R.V., In Remembrance of his five years, as Adjutant of the Regiment 1886 which sold for £700.

Lot 97 Heavy cavalry pattern Dragoon officers undress sword by Stohwasser and Winter Conduit St London achieving an impressive hammer price of £490.

Overall the auction was a huge success with a range of eye-catching lots, great bidding and great realisations!
