Warwick and Warwick’s 17th July Toys, Postcards and Cigarette Cards Auction.

23rd July 2024

We had a fantastic sale on the 17th, with many interesting lots that aren’t seen regularly during our auctions. Such as our Action Man section, our Brum, Spark and Spot-On collections, in the Die Cast section. Plus, the wonderfully painted kit-built locomotives, built to a very professional standard.

The auction of course started with the cigarette card section and our highest-selling cigarette card lot was lot 61. An Allen & Ginter mixed collection of loose cards, all flag-themed. We had many flag-themed collections in the auction, that all received a lot of interest. Lot 61 sold for a fantastic £1,250.

The postcards are always very interesting and garner a lot of interest. Lot 84 sold for a brilliant £1,400. Lot 84 had a lot of interesting material including with it, with RPs of streets horse and carriage outside Eastmans Limited, gatherings, trams including accident etc.

Moving on to the toys, we had an extensive Action Man section with individual figures and mixed lots selling very well. Lot 106 sold for £675, lot 107 sold for £500 and lot 163 sold for £180.

The model soldiers section saw many King and Country lots, in excellent condition. Lot 182 sold for £575, lot 183 sold for £525 and lot 206 sold for £120.

The die-cast section enticed the bidders with the Minichamps lots selling very well indeed. Lot 440, a collection of F1 racing cars sold for £850. Lot 450, an Onyx collection of F1, Indy Car, Le Mans and Touring cars sold for £650. We had some Spot-On lots as well that sparked a bidding frenzy. Lot 458, a Morris Mini Van No. 404, yellow body, red interior, ladder and figure sold for an impressive £725.

The Model Railways section of the sale is always very popular and we saw many a bidding war throughout. Lot 534, a DJH OO gauge kit built NER/LNER/BR B16/2/3 4-6-0 BR 61434 lined black K16 locomotive with tender sold for £110.

The star of the show was lot 590, a Rocar Models. The Royal Train OO Gauge collection of 12 privately commissioned scratch built 12 wheel Royal coaches by Rob & Vera Cooper. This lot sold for £1,600.

The mixed lots are also very sought after with lot 592, a range of OO gauge kit built Castle Class locomotives selling for £90. Lot 622 sold for an astonishing £1,050.

Overall, the Toys, Postcards and Cigarette cards auction was a great success with many different lots on offer to attract buyers.
